Notably, Monarch is on track to save $1,500,000+ on energy alone over its 90-year lease as Texas’ highest rated LEED certified (Gold) K-12 facility, one of few K-12 schools nationally to have earned the EPA’s “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” (designed to be among the nation’s top 14 percent of K-12 schools), and Texas’ first (the nation’s 2nd) 2011 ENERGY STAR label recipient.

GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS helps The Monarch School’s Chrysalis become 1st K-12 School in Texas & 2nd in U.S. to win 2011 ENERGY STAR label
Today, just before a possible government shutdown, the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program awarded The Monarch School’s Chrysalis building – Texas’ healthiest, most sustainable K-12 school – with the first 2011 ENERGY STAR label by a K-12 school in Texas, & the second K-12 school in the United States to earn the 2011 ENERGY STAR building certification for exemplary green building operations.
This award was a natural, but hard-earned follow through by the school after its rare “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” (DEES) certification for exemplary design back in 2009. Monarch’s Chrysalis is one of very few DEES recipients in history to earn the ongoing ENERGY STAR label. More—>
