Founding Partner, Lead Consultant
Robinson has focused his career on securing sustainable success for business executives & real estate owners. As a subject matter expert in alternative energy, sustainable real estate & corporate sustainability (CSR), Robinson routinely advises chief-level decision makers, primarily in consulting & interim executive roles, delivering game-changing strategies & best-in-class project implementation.
Since 2000, Robinson's focus has narrowed from broad management consulting & corporate sustainability more specifically to sustainable real estate & ultimately green energy. His experience shows a balanced giftedness in relationship building & transactional leadership, internal motivation & enthusiasm, polished communications skills, & broad & deep expertise & relationships. Moreover, his background reveals how he nurtures relationships while shepherding multiple opportunities from research to vision, strategy & execution.
Robinson began his career as a consultant in crisis management, turnaround management, corporate renewal & strategic growth for home décor, flooring & wood products manufacturers; building supply distributors & retailers; & others across the construction industry.
In 2002, the focus of his client work & personal life shifted rapidly to sustainability & related "green" industries: corporate sustainability, green building, renewable energy or green power, natural/organic food, & even his own green courtship & green wedding in 2006.
- Learn how the Robinsons' elegant green wedding celebration saved $18,000 on 80 decisions from some of the many articles featuring the couple: The Houston Chronicle, Today's Groom Magazine, Plenty Magazine & others). Local-natural-organic green wedding catering by Melange Events.
- >>If engaged couples in just Houston, Texas celebrated sustainably with green weddings like the Robinsons, Houston couples could save over $1 billion annually (77,000 weddings in Houston per year, each costing $27,500 on average).
Much of Robinson's expertise resides in ENERGY STAR labeled buildings & LEED certified projects, such as Texas’ healthiest, most sustainable K-12 school (HowToGreenSchools.com) & 1 of 3 triple LEED Platinum certifications globally (HowToPlatinum.com). He has helped clients like BBVA Compass, Green Bank, Hines, EDENS&AVANT, Jacob White Construction Company, & The Monarch School (HowToGreenSchools.com) as they became sustainable leaders.
Since 2006, Robinson has also led a green energy procurement & full-service energy management advisory GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS (a division of Momentum Bay®), focused on offsite, onsite & mobile green energy. In 2010, the business unit added services as seller’s representative of biogas & biomass power generators (BiomassTexas.com), & broker-dealer-developer of onsite solar & wind (up to 10 MW; GreenPowerBroker.com), affording him the opportunity to build relationships with generators, Qualified Scheduling Entities, municipalities, Generation & Transmission companies (G&T’s), rural electric cooperatives, wholesale buyers, Retail Electric Providers & large Commercial & Industrial customers.
Robinson is a frequent writer, presenter, motivational speaker & spokesperson about resilient careers for future MBAs at Houston GMAT prep course and GMAT private tutoring service MBAcademy.net, clean energy (solar, wind, microgrids, renewable energy, green power), sustainable real estate (green building), & corporate sustainability / CSR (green business). For example, Robinson is an instructor approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC), teaching primarily Momentum Bay's ECO [BOOT CAMP]® for Real Estate Professionals, a 2, 4 or 8-hour course approved for Mandatory Continuing Education credit.
Finally, Robinson's educational credentials include a Master of Business Administration from Babson College, & a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration & Psychology (minor in French) from Trinity University. In 2011, the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) board approved him as a Certified Energy Manager® (CEM®). In 2003, with other innovators & early adopters, Robinson became a LEED Accredited Professional, & Momentum Bay became the fourth among today's roughly 100 other Texas consulting firms to join the U.S. Green Building Council.
Robinson's inspiration to rejuvenate businesses via sustainability is rooted in solid business principles & the values learned from some of his heroes -- his grandpas (heart attacks & cancer), parents (migraines), former youth pastors, kids & God (making all things new).
Robinson’s broad & deep understanding of & personal passion for creation care, sustainability & construction uniquely equip him to help executives, their enterprises & teams to “go green” profitably & practically, to the right extent, for the right reasons, at the right time, with the right attitude.
Apart from his activities at Momentum Bay, Robinson is also a registered Finder with the Texas State Securities Board (i.e., as a sole proprietor). In this role, Robinson introduces accredited investors to owners of companies issuing securities (i.e., selling equity in their businesses, particularly family-owned businesses) and/or introducing companies issuing securities to accredited investors.
At home, he is a green husband, green dad, outdoor enthusiast (hiking, fishing, hunting), ice hockey player, & an avid urban year-round organic gardener with 20+ fruit trees, blackberries, & raised garden beds, expecting to grow enough to feed his family & sell to farmers market patrons, more than paying his family's house payments forever ... on just a 70' x 120' lot.
