ENERGY STAR® Certification Case Study - Commercial Office
As one of the Most Active EPA ENERGY STAR® Service and Product Providers (SPP), Momentum Bay believes that businesses profit by continually improving their management of energy and water resources.
Momentum Bay helps executives of real estate developers, owners, investors and managers get a bit fit, optimize energy and optimize water - saving on average 7% of energy costs relative to peers by benchmarking, and 35% by certifying.
In 2008, Momentum Bay and its founder Mark Alan Robinson served as the first Sustainability Manager globally for Hines, a privately-held, leading global developer, owner, investor and manager of $89 billion of commercial real estate - roughly 300 office buildings.
That year, Momentum Bay helped Hines regain its ENERGY STAR leadership.
We earned 'Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR' certification for over 5 million square feet of office designs.
With Hines' 2,000+ facility engineers, we labeled 105 buildings -- one out of every nine office square feet that was ENERGY STAR certified nationwide that year. More importantly, we surprised everyone with this discovery: Hines' engineers' energy management acumen yielded $1 billion every 9 years.
After Hines' early ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year wins in 2001-2003 for Energy Management and in 2004 for Sustained Excellence, we reignited Hines' partnership with the EPA by regaining Sustained Excellence Partner of the Year. And, Hines has won that award every year since Momentum Bay's consulting engagement in 2008.
